Description:

Brick tinting is a technique used to permanently alter the colour of both brick and mortar. Developed in the UK during the 1970s, it is now officially recognized by the Brick Development Association (BDA) as the proper method for modifying or correcting the colour of clay bricks.

Unlike masonry paint, which forms a layer on the surface, brick tints penetrate deep into the clay, permanently dyeing the pigments from within. As a result, brick tinting—unlike masonry paints—allows bricks to 'breathe,' ensuring their technical performance remains unchanged. Additionally, this method enables tinted bricks to age and weather naturally, making them virtually indistinguishable from untreated brickwork.

At Brick Tint Specialists, we provide four different pre-mixed DIY brick tint sets, making it easy and affordable for anyone to tint bricks themselves. Each set is ready to be applied to a brick straight out of the box. Our sets included instructions letting you effortlessly adjust the colour as needed, giving you full control over the final shade.

We have 5 kits available:

1- Brick Red

2- Orange Rust

3- Buff Beige

4- Charcoal Grey

5- Weathered Wash

Unlike other companies, we provide 4 kits and allow you to individually adjust the colour yourself on sight in front of the brickwork. This provides a greater guarantee that the shade of tint your looking for will match your specific brickwork. For example, you can order the brick red kit and alter the colour yourself in a very easy two step process to get the specific 'salmon burt red' colour your after.

Will My Bricks Work?

To check whether your brick is suitable for tinting simply splash a small amount of water onto the surface. If the water runs off, the material cannot be stained. If it remains wet it can. Please do note that this product will not work on horizontal surfaces like driveways.

We offer non-permanent sample pots, enabling users to test brick tinting for colour matching, with the option to remove it later using a pressure washer.

Application & Reach:

Simply pour our product into a bucket, mix well and apply to brick with a clean paintbrush.

Our solution can be diluted with water to a maximum ratio of 1 part tint to 2 parts water. This will increase coverage and result in a more transparent finish.

1L of brick stain will tint approximately 20-25m2 of brickwork. However, the exact coverage rate will depend on the porosity of the bricks and the depth of colour desired.

Better For The Environment:

Our tints are completely free from VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), and contain no solvents or petrochemicals.
